Flash to gif, and how not to show the whole bloody image.

I created a flash movie last summer, and when I put it in a webpage (http://www.geocities.com/rangerwickett/teaser.html) I can make it show only the part I want. But if I just load the movie by itself (http://www.geocities.com/rangerwickett/MOD.swf), I end up with this huge block of space because there are parts of the movie that aren't supposed to be in the frame.

Now, it's not even really important anymore, but I'm just durned irritated, and I want to know how. I always wanted to be able to put this movie, or something like it, in a banner ad or a sig. Not necessarily for these boards, but just so that I'd know how to do it. But when I convert to a .gif file, I again end up with the whole bloody square, instead of just the smaller shape with the important part.

What program do I have to use, and what do I have to do, to cut away all the extraneous bits? It seems like it should be so easy, but I can't figure out how to do it in Flash. I mean, there's no frikkin' "Crop" tool!

Actually, I figured out how to make a gif just now, but it's 3 MB. Whereas the actual flash movie is only 82 kb. But I don't think I can put links to swf files in my sig, can I?
