FLGS List for London & England

I do an awful lot of online shopping at Leisure Games. Although I've never actually been there in person, they seem to know their stuff.
I'll second Leisure Games. I've been there many times in person though not recently. The last time I was there (about 6 months ago) they did have OOP material but not much that was very old. Most of the OOP stuff was 3.0.

Generally OOP stuff is not predictable in the stores as few of them carry second hand stock. Caliver used to be good for it, Second Chance Games http://www.secondchancegames.com/ sells a lot of second hand/oop stuff, but I don't know that they operate as a shop rather than mail order + conventions.

Leisure Games has the best stocks of the London stores, but is out in Finchley (zone 4 man!)
Playin' Games has decent stocks given the size of the store and is pretty friendly
Orc's Nest is not bad on stocks, but I find the service a bit hit and miss.

to answer GoldieDavid's question quickly:

Heroes for Sale, Karangahape Rd (www.heroes4sale.co.nz), I'd consider a good store for New Zealand - other places that are or have stocked RPG gear in Auckland include Vagabond (Queen St and ...Takapuna (www.vagabond.co.nz)) Historic Games and Urban Warfare (both in Newmarket) and possibly King of Cards (somewhere on Queen St, not sure what it stocks beyond Magic).

WHAT you guys up in Auckland get more than one. Down in Wellywood (where I'm from) there's only Graphix, which is a comic store that carries D&D books. The guys behind the counter give you the dirtiest looks. wankers, they work in a COMIC BOOK STORE for crying out loud. Who are they to judge m,,, [/rant]

Sorry, but that place gets to me real bad - before I moved over here I took to ordering off Amazon.com.

You J.A.F.A's get all the good stuff... :p

In Manchester there is Fanboy 3. http://www.take2theweb.com/pub/fb3/a.html that's the nearest specialist gaming shop I know. (although looking back through the thread I've discovered the Travelling Man is in Manchester too)

There is a bookshop in Chester that sells the WotC stuff only (but does the miniatures line as well). It's by the cross.

Also Forbidden Planet in Liverpool's Bold Street, sells a limited range of WotC, D20, Cthuhlu and White Wolf, plus some D&D minitures if you are lucky and Magic:tG and other card games, like Pirates of the...

Possibly - I thought I'd cast my net wide to begin with. I'm much more likely to buy OOP material when travelling overseas than currently available stuff (which I can order through the local or a nearby FLGS) - so if there was a particular store in some English location that could had a good OOP RPG selection in England, then I'd look into what else was in that city and see if I could justify visiting.
Bishop Games in Coventry is pretty good. They seem to have some OOP stuff.

As for other stuff: The Museum of Road Transport was worth the visit last time I went, and the Priory ruins nearby are pretty (and the old/new cathedrals). Slightly further afield (but still with a CV postcode) there are Warwick & Kennilworth castles and all the Shakespeare stuff in Stratford.

At this point, Bristol, London and Southampton (is it one h or two?)
One, I believe.

glass.

There is indeed a Travelling Man in Bristol - it has a fair selection of OOP stuff, mostly 1st and 2nd Ed. There is also a (new and improved) Forbidden Planet at the top of the hill from there, which has a fairly wide selection of the new D20 products, but no interesting OOP stuff that I've noticed.

UK Role Players has a decent listing of games shops (and clubs) in the UK (in both the forums and the links section).

In Bristol there's Travelling Man and Forbidden Planet really (I think there's one more, but can't remember - the last time I shopped in Bristol was just before Christmas).

Nottingham's Travelling Man has an excellent selection of OOP/Second Hand material and I can heartily recommend it if you're in the area.

Spirit Games in Burton-on-Trent has a bunch of old and secondhand stuff. They do mail order too.

House Atreides have some serious collector items, they don't have a physical shop, it's all Internet mail order (though they do often have stands at GenCon, big Magic tournaments, etc).

I've successfully shopped with both of these places.

If you are anywhere near Cambridge, check out Gamers in the nearby town of St. Neots (west of Cambridge along the A428). A great little store with a great little stash of OOP material (some on the shelves, some out back - the owner usually doesn't mind if you have a rummage).

Heh. Beat me to it! :)

I'm the manager there (not the owner) and we'd be glad to have anyone drop in. We have a huge supply of OOP and 2nd hand games (both D&D and other).
