Fluff of the Fey

igavskoga

First Post
I thought I remembered reading a thread around here a while back with someone talking about a very good sourcebook they had used to insert Fey into their world. I can't remember if it was system independent or not.

Does anybody remember that thread? Does anybody have any recommendations on books I could use?

Thanks!

I do have a recommendation, but it is in layout right now and I am unsure of when it will be published. Its Imperial Age Faeries from Adamant. Keep an eye out for it! :)

Beyond that reading a combination of Victorian era fairy tale collections (not the modern versions unless they are straight reprints), Neil Gaiman's Stardust, DC's Books of Magic, Emma Bull's War for the Oaks and similar modern takes on faeries is all you need.

The guy using the ENWorld screen name 'Raven Crowking' is pretty keen on this stuff too: http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=86637

WotC put up some articles on the fey (for free) here: http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=86637

3rd party (d20 fantasy) supplements that I can think of right now:

Complete Guide to the Fey (Goodman Games)
Faeries (Bastion Press)
Encyclopedia Divine: Fey Magic (Mongoose Publishing)
The Iconic Bestiary: Classic Fey (Lion's Den Press)
Celtic Age: The Little People (Avalanche Press)

hth. :)

Re: system independence, the GURPS Faerie book, and the Ars Magica one, are probably better (in that way) than any of those I mentioned above. There's a lot of good stuff that can be taken from either.

As usual, I assumed anyone here would be after d20 sources, even though I should've realised that's likely not the case, looking at your post again. :o

And yeah, there are tons of great resources out there, RPG-free. That's a whole nother truckload.
