My latest Paizo orders are starting to arrive, one of which was this wonderful book. I can't put it down. I .... wait! What was that creaking noise outside?

Is it all fluff or are there rules in there? This one definitely came under my radar. Worth a peek for sure as we all know I love monsters!

It has stat blocks for the monsters, but the description of the monsters is the focus of the book.

There are some rules sidebars here and there (and monster stats using the excellent Paizo stat block format with tactics and the like). The vast majority of the book is taken up with some of the most interesting and provocative monster ecology write-ups I've ever read.

If you're only interested in rules then you may be disappointed (but, hey, I'd recommend picking it up anyway and broadening your horizons! )

Rules are icing on the cake. I'm much more impressed with good fluff descriptions for monsters. If you've seen Denizens of Avadnu you'll see that we placed a lot of importance on fluff.

And, coincidentally, I just ordered Denizens of Avadnu from Paizo only a few days ago. Very much look forward to reading it.

Sweet. Let me know how you like it. We have a new website coming soon with the whole Paizo announcement later this week. One thing that disturbs me about 4e is the lack of fluff. I think the rules are solid, but I miss all of the evocative text that comes with it.
