The Table of Contents for both Heroes of Faerun and Adventures in Faerun.

Picked the books up this morning and love what I’ve seen so far. I’ll answer whatever questions I can here.

I’m quite enjoying the books so far. The artwork is excellent, in my opinion. The structure pretty good (although I’m stunned that they didn’t list page numbers for their index of adventurers in the DM book, that’s absurd).

I’m mostly reading the material on Baldur’s Gate because that will be the focus of my upcoming campaign. Very pleased so far and I love that there’s an adventure that rewards the party with a Bastion in the Upper city.

Lots of nice advice in here. I’m very happy.

This particular change shouldn't be that simple IMO.
Even Toril has areas that are less well explored, even entire continents. One would expect unique species there, and in the context of Toril, sapient ones. The Dragonborn can be there. Also, at any day, the Dragons themselves can decide to magically reproduce them, for whatever reason.

The decision to involve a parallel universe should have its own storytelling purposes. The presence of Dragonborn dont really need it.

In my Norsesque regional campaign, Dragonfolk aleady existed. There is a Danish tale about monarchs giving birth to one. It was an example of shapeshift magic going awry. The Dragonfolk was a monstrous european adder, with horns, forearms and so on, similar to a D&D Linnorm.

Dragonbborn are no problem.

(although I’m stunned that they didn’t list page numbers for their index of adventurers in the DM book, that’s absurd).
Actually for reference material that has its own inherent logical organization, I prefer no page numbers. Otherwise it would be like giving page numbers for each dictionary entry.

Other than the lack of saurials (grumble grumble moan moan), these books are great so far!!

There's lots of cool tools to use; I could always handle more options for Magical Contagions, for example, and Icewind Dale has some new fun ones!

The monsters are excellent, and I love the details on the gods and their Chosen in Heroes of Faerûn! All in all, I'm happy with my purchase!

Having read the section in Heroes of Faerûn about the Red Wizards...

The book assumes you have previous knowledge of the area. That is not a good thing for a book that supposedly is intended to be a new players entry...

How much of Thay died in those things? The Forgotten Realms wiki doesn't give enough details.

That is not said in any source. However, the battle lasted at least 80 years and spanned a trilogy of novels about it, so you can imagine the dead toll was high.

Any new stuff about how goliaths fit into the setting, and specifically, anything addressing all of these new subtypes? My first instinct is that they all somehow mimic the culture of their respective giant equivalent.
