[Forgotten Realms]Help with names.

First Post
Hi everyone, just need some help with the naming conventions used in the nations detailed in the Unapproachable East.

If you could give me a few examples for characters from Aglarond, the Great Dale, Rashemen, Thay and Thesk, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Snoweel

Aglarond: Steal something from Tolkien, as "Aglarond" itself is a name stolen from Tolkien.
The Great Dale: No idea.
Rashemen: That's the witchland, right? There's a Lady Yhelbruna in the FRCS.
Thay: This one is easy. Red Wizards have names like "Anthony Valterra."
Thesk: Aren't them half-orcs? So they'll have names like "Grorgor" or "Graharg" or "Dabuh Zoxog".

PS: Your sig link doesn't work, bro.

Take your FRCS and look at page 12. A whole page with Faerûnian Names. It has male names, female names, surnames.

And then, of course, just go and look at the NPC names in UE.

As helpful as you guys have been, I still welcome further input to this thread.

Maybe even from somebody who actually knows something about the Realms.

Thanks.

P.S. Gez, I fixed the link. Ca va?

You may want to reword that part. It could be interpreted as you calling all who have posted so far clueless. Just a thought...

Um, yeah.

My FRCS is in a box in a garage in Stockholm, which is kinda why I'm asking you helpful people here.

I don't own Unapproachable East, otherwise I'd have a look you muppet.

In fact this thread (along with the reviews on this site) is part of my attempt to learn if UE will be helpful to my homebrew or not.

The standard method for generating a Forgotten Realms name is to take any English word, and change all i's to y's. Add apostrophes to taste.

Examples taken from IE's menus:
Fyle
Edyt
Prynt
Prynt Pre'vyew

For the places over on the right-hand side of the map, add -az or -zar to the end.

Fylezar
Edytaz
Pryntaz
Pryntaz Pre'vyew'zar
