I'm mixed on this one. We knew there was going to be a price increase, so here it is. What's annoying is that instead of just saying "we've had the subscription around for a while, it's no longer really 'introductory,'" we get this "look at this great new content for you," notion.

Material from one new book, a book that we were likely going to get preview material for anyway? That's why the price is going up? Really? The material is going to be in the Character Builder, so that's a great deal, right? Well, all of the playtest material is in there, and has been, so it's nothing we wouldn't have expected to see anyway.

Again, I don't begrudge WotC raising the price: they're effectively created a product that means you don't have to buy their books anymore, after all, but let's just be honest about what's going on. We can all understand the need for a better price point to meet revenue projections, right? Just don't sugar coat it, please!

... but let's start with say, Exemplars of Evil, Elder Evils and other tail end 3.5 products. Where are the DDI conversions? Etc... etc... etc...

Apparently in Development since last GenCon. WotC is clearly not too concerned with living up to their promises for products you already paid for (at least, they aren't in a hurry).

I also will note that there hasn't been any comments from WotC people since last GenCon either.

I cancelled my 3-month subscription and bought an annual subscription. I'll extend it prior to the end of the introductory period as well. I think the service is actually undervalued for what it's providing.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I honestly haven't heard people asking them/reminding them about it very often. It slips my mind most of the time, because I'm mostly interested in the newer products. However, if these things are what you really want (and I can see why you might), keep people talking about it -- lots of people. IMHO, WotC has been quite good about listening to customer feedback.

Personally, I signed up for Dragon and Dungeon. The other stuff was a nice bonus. I've extended my subscription (runs out november 2010 now), so I'm still getting Dragon and Dungeon at a really nice price. And drat, there are some nice bonuses coming along with the mags. ;)
