Form of a Whirlwind

When an air elemental turns into a whirlwind, what is it vulnerable to? I mean, can you chop up a tornado with a sword and beat it to death with a hammer?

It's vulnerable to any attack it's normally vulnerable to. Nothing about the whirlwind form increases any of its defenses. Remember that it's not a tornado, it's a creature made out of elemental air.

Can you form a rudimentary lathe? What's its motivation?

I agree with what Infiniti2000 said..but then again most of the time I do.
