Coming soon, Mythusmage Publishing. A PDF publisher featuring d20 and d20 Modern material useful with most any d20 game.

The first item to be made available, sometime in December, will be the Tales of the Wolf Folk Sea d20 fantasy setting. The first version will be a "making of" effort, showing the background behind the setting, and why it came out the way it did.

The d20 Modern material will be available in 2003, soon after Urban Arcana from Wizards of the Coast is released. initial releases will include:

The Dragon Earth Gazeeter. A guide to the world of Dragon Earth, including new Advanced and Prestige classes, new occupations, and new equipment. Current plans are to include OGC from other d20 and d20 Modern products, so Section 15 of the OGL could get a tad long.

Dragon Earth: San Diego. A detailed look at the city of San Diego, CA, USA in the world of Dragon Earth. The people of the city, its history, adventure opportunities etc.

A Lotus Fades. A fantasy history set in the world of Dragon Earth. A Lotus Fades is the story of the Imperial Chinese battleship, The Golden Lotus, and its sinking at the Battle of San Diego during The Great War (1933-1941). The book will cover Chinese/American relations from 1836 to 1941, the Petainist France/Imperial Chinese alliance of 1926, and the failures of Chinese sorcery and technology in the pre-war period.

Walking with Dragons is a book on dragons. More specifically, the dragons of Dragon Earth. It will cover dragon evolution, physiology, and psychology. With each "race" of dragon expanded to give a better look at the various stages of dragon life. Depending on how long each write-up gets, this may become a series of books, each covering a different dragon type, with the first volume dealing with general dragon information. The first type to be dealt with will be the white dragon.

The City of Brass: The Efreet of Dragon Earth. This tome will deal with the efreet of the world of Dragon Earth and the city they call home. Politics, tourist attractions, and hidden goodies you'll need special protection to see (It gets hot in the City of Brass, it does:)). The City of Brass will also include information on efreet among "cold folk" (as they like to call us).

Prices are not yet set. Figure about 5 dollars for The City of Brass and A Lotus Fades, with the rest going for 10 dollars each. If a hard copy publisher is found, or I get the money to hard copy publish myself, the two 5 dollar PDFs will become soft cover books, with the rest published as hard covers. If you are a member of the d20 Modern publishers' mailing list, expect a special posting about the Dragon Earth material in a few days on that list.

The "making of" Tales of the Wolf Folk Sea will be a free product. The "final " product will be a pay PDF. Later, possibly, a print version will be made available.

More news as it becomes available. Thanks for your time.

BUMP.

96 views, 12 votes, and not a single reply. I've got to be more outrageous.

BTW, Morrus, you can list Mythusmage Publishing in the d20 Publishers.

few comments

Talk to a few of the more successful pdf publishers, Ambient, Nat 20, Vigilance, and others and ask what a average good sale number is. See if that number fits in a budget for you time vs. dollar. Then look at if it is one piece people may be nervous about what you stated above, file size and IMHO very few people would pay around $100 for a pdf. BUT some may not want to have to buy "chunks" of a complete system unless the split made sense.
Last rename the City of Brass :D there are 2 already coming out and it may get even more confused if we had 3 to look at.

Good luck and I hope you do well.

Don't take the poll seriously. For one thing, It would have to be one heavy PDF for me to charge 100 bucks for it. Walking with Dragons will be 10 bucks, which will get the buyer a "subscription" he can use to down load all the parts.

But first, to do a general info page for all my basilisks, including the various species. And the Greater Plains Basilisk write up (at long last).

G'day,

You should have another option on the poll

"No thanks I'm happy with the Mongoose and AEG treatments of Dragons and this might just muddy the waters." ;-)

I don't know that I need another Dragon book (even the Draconomicon (or whatever it was from 2E) is easily converted). I'd be spending more time getting the Draon Earth stuff in the bag than expending a great deal of energy on another Dragon book if I was you.

Even if the Dragon's of Dragon Earth are far different to the standard D20 Dragon do we really need another book? Just do them as Privateer did in the Monsternomicon, you must have plans for a Dragon Earth Critter Guide ;-).

Congrats on getting into the publisher game, look forward to seeing how you go (especially if it's not PDF.)

Have a great day.

Cheers

Walking with Dragons is what got me started, it's my flagship book, if you like. Without it Dragon Earth and all the rest would not exist.

WwD started as a parody of the Walking with Dinosaurs series from the BBC/Discovery Channel, and grew from there. It's also my "tribute" to the National Geographic specials on PBS. It's something I really must do.

WwD will cover the d20 dragons more thoroughly than any other book. This corresponding to my philosophy that "fluff" is just as vital to a good RPG experience as any amount of "crunch". To put it another way, my books will be meaty.

Thanks for writing.

sigh.. i'm handling m... as if Mongoose, Malhavoc, Monkey God, Mystic Eye and Necromancer weren't enough. ;P

I would be interested in the Dragon Earth setting books, but not the dragon info, if that makes sense. The world you described in some of your earlier posts sounds quite meaty and useful, but the rest of the dragon info again might not be to my liking.

I can tel you that $10.00 is the absolute barest limit I would pay for a PDF, because anything beyond that, and I would rather invest in a paper book product. Paying any more than that would have to wait until the general inflation leve rises again. $6.95 or even $7.95 is about right.

You will find this a lot. How many pages do expect to be in the $10 PDF? I don't have any hard numbers, but PDFs that push 100 pages are a hard sell because no one wants the hassle of printing a 100 page PDF.
