Forsaker needs to go Plane hopping

Ok, then I have the wrong thoughts about the forsaker.

What are the prerequisites for the class?

g!

The three bonus save feats. Iron Will, Great Fortitude, Lightning Reflexes.

That's it.

So a first level human fighter could meet the qualifications right away, and take his second level in Forsaker. Wow, never realized how close to an alternative class, rather than a prestige class, the Forsaker really is.

how does your party deal with you? obviously there are magically occuring things in this world, so does your forsaker go after each of them?

Also this brings up a question. When a forsaker is the subject of a spell that causes him to do something (like maze) does he loose his ability? That wouldn't make any sense.

Also I really have a hard time with a forsaker as a PC. All of the party members suffer for one persons choice. I can tell you that I would not travel with him any more. Much like a frenzied berserker that turns on me and nearly kills me, I would quickly find an alternate path in my life. So while you get so much better than the rest of the party because of your PrC they loose all of their abilities granted to them by the magic items they have. WONDERFUL.... not.

Ditch the character. Forsakers are nice, IF you take them immediately, and the campaign stays relatively low-magic. Once the party hits level 13, the campaign is no longer low-magic.

In any non-low-magic situation, the forsaker just sucks.

Have your character refuse to go to this "other plane" - it sounds suspiciously like magic to him. Just retire him - hell, you can even play him later when the group returns.

Go with some character that can actually fit into a group.

This won't work, since none of the needed feats are fighter bonus feats. That's why you need to be a 3rd-level human (of any class), or a 6th-level non-human, in order to qualify.

This is a perfect example of 'roleplaying' restrictions used to balance 'mechanics' benefits.

And look at what (almost) everyone is saying "Work out a way around it with your DM." (Or some variation.)

Not to be harsh, but, you picked a class that gets an inherent stat boost every leve in addition to the one every four levels, gets very good SR, etc. The trade off NO USING MAGIC. Period. Take your lumps, go through the portal willingly, because it serves a greater good (picture eating a worm to save a life), and be somewhat weaker for a week. Compare it to being stat-drained and having a long way back to a cleric able to Restore you. You are weaker for the first part of the trip.

It's part of the character, roleplay it.

IF you mess with some goofy cleric domains (like a human taking the Dwarf domain), you might be able to break in at level two.

Actually, you can qualify for forsaker by taking 1 level of OA human monk by swapping Deflect Arrows for one of the feats. As to peoples questions as to how I get along with the rest of my party, since I am playing a NG character I have learned to tolerate the magic the rest of the party uses, but I don't directly talk to the parties Paladin or the Rogue's cohort Cleric unless I need to. I do talk to the Rogue, Monk, and the Psi-Warior.

Aso grasshopper, you are correct! (Except that you mean to sacrafice Stunning Fist rather than Defelct Arrows). I had not noticed that Iron Will was on the list of martial arts feats.

Rec1966.

I don't think that is the way a forsaker really acts. Toleration is not an option. I know it's a Roleplaying effect that is supposed to balance the class, but to even tolerate a magic item existing with your knowledge would deem a loss of ability. Especially when that item is able to be destroyed by you, and even more especially when you associate with the people that use them. Consorting in anyway with a magic user of any sort is also a point where i would give a loss of forsaker granted abilities.

Of course I look at the Forsaker as a very restricting character to any party unless you happen to be in a extremely low low magic world. (I can't think of a reason a Forsaker would exist in a non-magic world reality)

If all the forsaker had to do was not use magic in anyway but could be around people who did I would think it was a better class. Some sortof jesusfreak of magic items, but who doesn't condemn others for using them.
