I've been looking at some of the super powers in Four Color to Fantasy by d20 press and I think some of them would translate very well into a Final Fantasy-style limit break system. Each character would effectively have one level of "Hero" with all their hero points spent on their limit break.
Right now I have it set up so that under a certain circumstance (HP below 25% or something) the character can do a very powerful attack that does extra damage.
Limit Break
Base Rank 3
Increased Damage +8 (total = 5d6)
HP Restriction -2
Deals 4 subdual damage with each use -2
Here's my question. How exactly should I do the HP restriction? Should I say that the character can use the limit break once when his HP gets below 25% of his maximum? Would he "save up" damage done to him in a limit gauge as per FF7?
Has anyone done anything like this?
