[FR] Halaster is NOT a Chosen.

First Post
I saw i thread a bit lower down where someone again assumed that Halaster was a chosen (due to Elminster in Hell).

Well, I got news for you.

During Gencon I was lucky enough to talk to Ed Greenwood himself (even got a picture which i'll post later).

Halaster is NOT a Chosen but has his own special deal with mystra. Those were Ed's exact words. What "special deal" means, I dont know, and he wouldnt say. But he did confirm that Halaster was not a chosen.

I will simply point out that while Mr. Greenwood is the original creator of the world, and therefore his words may be canon, he also no longer owns the rights to that world, so whether or not he says Halaster is a chosen is quite possibly irrelevant...

Well, the event in question took place in "Elminster in Hell", which he wrote. I presume that he is at least in a place to explain events in his own novels.

Just like what Gary Gygax says on World of Greyhawk is irrelevant?

Bah. The Enterprise would STILL win, with Halaster coming a distant second.

True, but I would lay bets that the Death Star would beat them both, due to the lack of snub fighters.

Back on topic, Halaster doesn't have the Chosen template in the FRCS and I don't recall him be named one in any other game books either (not that that means much).

Ah, but from what I can remember, the power output of a turbo laser is the equivalent of what a common navigational shield could completely absorb, and when considering the power of the deathstar's primary cannon, they wouldn't even get past a starship's (let alone a romulan warbird's!) primary shields! I remember an episode where...

...man, I'm lame. :o

:D
