[FR] Paladin of Kossuth Code of Conduct

How would you play it off? I'm thinking it would definetly not be the standard paladin. Help me and my DM set up a code of conduct for him.

I really don't know where to start. It seems like a conflict (Kossuth and the traditional CoC). I just keep drawing a blank. Any idea on where to start? Anyone have something similiar in their game?

Protect fire, its servants, and the things that create it. For if the fire is no protected nothing is purified. Purity comes from flame. In darkness light comes from the flame. The flame strengthens and renews. Essentially I would make a Paladin of Kossuth somthing like a Firefighter but more a fire steward. They instruct people how to use fire, and that kossuth has very little patience for misuse.

I would make it a very purity/safty oriented sect of the church of Kossuth.

Well, a few points-

Kossuth is true neutral, though, since LG and LE characters can be clerics of Kossuth, a Paladin *may* be appropriate.

Also, however, remember the cultures that worship Kossuth (everyone seems to forget that different deities have different followings depending on where you are in the Realms!) The only significant concentration of Kossuthar in the Realms is in Thay- which is a less than hospitable environment for a Paladin- at least a standard Paladin. A Paladin of Tyranny (I think that's what they're called), the LE variant from Unearthed Arcana, might be more appropriate for one in that setting (though such a character would more likely be a follower of Bane). Though it could be finagled, a Paladin of Kossuth would probably be a unique character...

2E's Faiths & Avatars might provide you with some guidance. It mentions a good-aligned monastic order, the Disciples of the Phoenix, and that name, combined with the dogma stated on page 89, should provide a fair amount of inspiration. I would also recommend looking at the Eberron articles on the WotC website that deal with the Church of the Silver Flame.

IMO, a paladin of Kossuth would be rather frightening. I could see such a character as wanted to scourge Faerun of all evil... and probably struggling to maintain the Good component of his alignment as a result. Purity and renewal would be two key "watchwords". In addition, submitting to Kossuth's scourging and purifying flame would be the paladin's raison d'etre and this would translate into crusading militancy: no downtime, just quest after quest so because the paladin would be a constant mission of self-improvement.

I would also tie the paladin into the Disciples of the Phoenix and use the symbol of the phoenix as much as possible. Anyway, it certainly sounds like an interesting RP challenge... particularly if the paladin starts meeting LE tyrant-clerics of Kossuth as the campaign progresses!
