What happened to Volothamp Geddarm? I thought he was a cool FR NPC. Liked him better than Elminster. Elminster was like the illuminati - keep some things secret. Volo was like Alex Jones who tries to reveal everything in his guides.

Actually, i've been using his Guide to the North for my 4e FR campaign. I love that little book.

Too bad. Now with Elminster down (sorta) he might have found another publisher who would have published Volos Guide to the Behaviour of Nymphs (mentioned in the new NWN2 addon)

I'd say make Volo a lich, still around, and then see how the party starts when he rolls nito town to do a review of the local brewery.

The 'Volo Geographic Society' was founded by the heir to his estate. The organization is still around, and publishes new and updated Volo's guides.

(I just made that up, but it works.)

Well, I don't think that he could have survived the 100 years leap in the Realms' timeline, so it's probably safe to assume that he died... probably while catering the services of some dark and sinister inn in an obscure corner of the Realms

He probably died of natural causes, and there's no more Mystra around to lengthen his lifespan should she chose to do so.

It's a shame too, because he was one of the few cool Realms NPCs. I could certainly see a lich Volo spending his days tavern-hopping across the Realms.

He went too far when he was readying the manuscript VOLO'S GUIDE TO ELMINSTER'S UNDERPANTS and had an unfortunate meeting with an ice storm spell.

So he didn't make it to the Phoney Fake 4E Forgotten Realms, so what? He can stay in the classic Forgotten Realms (whatever that term means to you).
