FRCS, Druids and spells. What the heck???

Okay, in the Players Handbook, page 33 under "Druid" and "Religion", it clearly says:
Druids revere nature and gain their magical power from the forces of nature itself or from a nature deity
However, on the other hand, the FRCS says (page 23):
Like clerics, the druids of Farûn recieve their spells from a particular patron deity, always a deity of nature and animals.

The FRCS just made the druids completely worthless for any kind of multiclassing, unless you already believed in a "nature deity" before taking levels of druid.

Druids got the shaft. :-)

Easy way to fix. Rule 0.

All people of Faerun must worship a god, else they get their souls screwed.

Druid spells come from nature. Nature and animal gods are patrons to Druids, and most common, but they do not grant spells to druids; a commune with Nature does.

Otherwise, they are clerics. :)

While I can see someone like Malar helping out a Druid, I'd rather not have the Druid pray to Malar.

So, your'e saying that you can't worship a nature deity and have any other class than druid? Thats kinda strange view on nature deitys.

Or maybe it's just me. I have no troubles imagening a Fighter/Druid of Silvanus, or a pure Fighter worshipping Silvanus for that sake.

Or a Paladin of Nobanion.

Or a bard of Eldath.

Or a rouge of Chauenta.

Or a wizard of Talos.

Or Ranger of Meilikki :D

But then again, maybe it's just me :D

Um, as long as they are switching classes, why can't they switch religions too while they're at it?

Good point!

If druids get their spells from deities and not from nature, they are clerics. At least in my opinion.

Suddenly, we have clerics, druids, wizards and sorcerers and they ALL get their spells from deities. Why not just call it "the spellcaster class" then?

Geeze, FRCS is a pretty poor campaign setting "as-is".

Can you do that? Heh, I had no idea, although it sounds a bit odd.

No, Wizards, Sorcerors and Bards get their spells from the Weave, the cause of magic. They do NOT get their magic from the gods. Simply, everyone has to Worship a god; if they don't, then their soul has no where else to go except to be stuffed into the Wall of the Dead.

Cheap shot. The FRCS is a very well done one. There ARE some hinks, yes, but there are hinks with everything.

The weave? Didn't mystra create the weave, or something like that?

Edit: Ahh, FRCS page 54. If Mystra disables the Weave, she cease to exist. That is, without mystra, no weave, no magic and no spellcasters.
