With all due respect, I glance at that logo (and while intellectually I can identify the "20" and "OGL" elements that make it up) it doesn't, to me as an uninformed consumer, say either. It says "20 GL" to me.

The two associateions I'd want are "3.5 D&D" or, at a stretch, "d20 System", but I'm not getting either from it. If I were a guy browsing in a gamestore for a 3rd party book for my D&D campaign, I'd gloss straight over it.

YMMV, of course. Just offering my opinion.

We appreciate your opinion and respect your advice. Personally, I enjoy all criticism feeling that it makes a better product. We are not prepared to change it right now, but welcome suggestions.

With WotC discontinuing the d20 stl, the use of "d20" or "d20 system" is not permissable. I definitely feel the number "20" is crucial to such a logo, I did not want to go overboard and step on some toes, but I do agree with you on certain points.

I know I am getting old so the memory might be slipping but didn't LPJ Design do this same thing a few months ago?

Yes, and we gave a brief reference to that in our initial post:

Like other companies offering similar logos, Alea Publishing Group continues to contribute to the spirit of the open gaming system.

Though we like what LPJ Design did, we wanted our own logo for our 3.5 products. And like LPJ Design, we followed his lead by deciding to let other publishers to use it free of charge. It didn't cost us nothing, so we thought, "Why not?"
