OD&D - Original D&D - The little booklets

BD&D - Basic D&D. Sometimes differentiated into the two different versions of it, one of which branched off into Basic, Expert, Companion, Master and Immortals sets. But really, BD&D is pretty much identical, unless you are interested in a much finer degree of detail than will likely be of interest to you at this point. For modules, "BD&D" is fine.

AD&D - Advanced Dungeons & Dragons - Both 1E and 2E, and you often have people differentiate. There's a definite difference in the flavor and style of the modules, so it's worth differentiating when looking for them. 1E has a much grittier old school flavor than 2E, which tends to be more high fantasy. Of course, the original Dragonlance modules were 1E, so it's not a hard and fast rule.

3E, 4E - These you know.

Seriously, I recognize each of the words individually, but put together in that order, they make no sense at all.

In fairness, there was no personal pronoun, so the writer wasn't necessarily saying that HE had no use for beer, but that someone, somewhere, has no use for beer. Crazy to contemplate I know. I think it's a theoretical statement.

well, since we're apparently talking pre-3E modules... my all time favorite is 'Dwellers of the Forbidden City" (love them jungle adventures). Runners up would be Ravenloft, the whole GDQ series, and Keep on the Borderlands.
