Just wanted people to know that they can trade in 2 DVD's at Electronics Boutique and get a free Lord of The Rings Widescreen DVD to pickup on Tuesday. I traded in 2 crappy movies that came with my DVD.

Where is Electronics Boutique, please?

:) Welcome, Zub! :)

Electronics Boutique is basically a mall store that sells Video Games. They are based in the US. I've seen them on the East Coast. I'm not sure where else they are located.

Try www.ebgames.com. There is a link to a store locator on the left hand side of the screen. Good luck!

Sounds like a great deal! However, I do not see a mention of this offer on their web site...

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categories/homepages/movies/

can anyone (else) confirm this?

It is not on their web site, Only at their physical stores. And this is for PRE-ORDER ONLY. SO you got to do this before it is released next week. You'll get a voucher that you can take back.

Umm.. isn't the LOTR dvd that is going to be released in November going to have all the extra's including the cut scenes?

Why buy this one at all?

You are not buying it! You are trading in two potentially crappy movies you may regret owning, or know you won't want. If you've got extra movies lieing around that you know you won't want to watch again, this is a great deal. If every movie you own is near and dear to your heart, then this is not a great deal. There are other ways to get this movie cheap or free before the Novemebe release. I believe if you test drive a Kia, you can get a free DVD or VHS as well.

I still plan to purchase the November release, but I'm also happy to get this version for free. November is still a long way off. Also, I'm not sure all the bonus features on the first release will be included on the second.

This is a good opportunity. No need for thread crappping here.

They're here in BR, LA too. One in each Mall.

Yes Furn_Darkside, AFAIK the boxed November release will have the 2 disc movie, then 2 discs with all the extra stuff (I don't know for a fact if the 2 movie discs will have the extra scenes but believe they will), a revised National Geographic Special on LotR, either 3 expansion packs or 3 cards from Decipher for the card games and the Argonath statues from Sideshow/Weta. It'll retail for $79.95 but I pre-ordered it on DeepdiscountDVD.com for $52.82 and free shipping!

I think that the two versions come with different extras - the documentaries, "making ofs", and whatnot. The last I heard, there wasn't supposed to be any overlap of material betwixt the two.

Heh, except a three hour movie.

The whole concept sounds like rip-off to me, but so does the whole market of the continual re-releasing of dvd's with even more extra's.

I guess I will just have to wait until November and see which one peeks my interest. I find the idea of buying both absurd.
