I'm really, really stoked about this game. The social combat system alone is, I dunno, sublime.

GoO did a good job with the d20 version but it was just too much. A game set in Westeros should be filled with uncertainties. This new mechanic reflects that better than d20 can, IMO.

Plenty of crunch, smoother system flow.

If there was a line I'd be the first.

So, is the upcoming book a completely new system then?

I havn't looked closely at it, yet, but it looks like they are making a new basic book entirely (i.e. not meant to be compatible with the existing SoIaF book from them), right?

It's a totally new system independent of the GoO release and d20. I don't know if it is OGL or not. It uses a d6 dice pool system and beyond that I can't give a succinct description. It looks very good though, both innovative and familiar. The mechanics presented in the fast-play download gives you a taste of task resolution, combat, and social interaction.

I recommend it.
