Let's start by the fact that I'm in Israel. ...

Huh! A fellow in circumstances...

I can't get to GenCon for I, too, live in Israel. Even if I were closer, I am now at a convention in Corsica, so no way I could go. And if I weren't, well my professor is already looking at me askane, I can't afford going off on a vacation right now...
But all this pales in comparison to the cruel economic fact that I will never have enough ,oney to allow myself to fly all the way to the US and back, plus lodgings and expenses. Not unless I win the lottery or something, which I find doubtful as I never filled a single ticket... :uhoh:

Ashrum, I think yours is the best non foreign country excuse yet. :D

I'm inclined to agree, although I feel Gospog's pain at not being able to leave behind the manic cat. Mine complain non-stop every time I leave the house for longer than a couple of hours.

Sadly I don't go to GenCon any more. I went for years when both the con and I were in Wisconsin, but now I'm just too busy with work, family, etc. However I won't be claiming free swag from CGW because I suppose I COULD go if I really wanted to. :D

I will check out the sale, though! This is a great idea, Peter, thanks.

since they moved it to indy I have not been able to go, as a lack of money plays a large part in this decision. In Milwaukee I have relatives who didn't mind 1-3 guys crashing in thier basement, leaving or arriving at odd hours, and both myself and my sisters husband have taken them up on hospitality. It doesnt help that I have entered gradschool and am no longer working full time. I had gotten into the habit of running enough games for a free badge, and will do so again, hopefully next year.

I don't need a PDF but this is kind of interesting...
Lets start it off with my wife has endured over 11 months of working on NPC Designer that the idea of asking her to go along to GenCon this year could prove suicidal. That woman puts up with a lot so why push it or as I like to joke, if the dragon is asleep.. leave it be!

My kids just left for college and my son has his first college football game this weekend, this is a pretty big event in his life and think it would be neat to share it with him.

Last and perhaps the most important.. kids are gone and dad wants a new toy, been looking at mustangs lately and found a few that meet what I desire.

Only two weeks ago I had to break the news to a very good friend that I couldn't afford to take time off job-hunting to fly to the USA to attend her wedding. If she heard I'd found the cash to go there for a gaming convention, she'd kill me. And I'd deserve it!

I would love to go to Gencon one of these years, but it is going to be some time in the not- too-recent-future. I am overworked and underemployed, and I am the sole provider for my family until my wife finished law school. To make matters worse, I have a friend who makes a point to go to Gencon almost every year and he feels the need to rub it in my face (he is an arse-hole). Anyway...I am biding my time.

Being in South East Asia makes it difficult, and I don't realy play that much except in PBPs. :(

I'm on the East Coast and my parents are flying in for the weekend. I've got plans to take them and my one year old son hiking along the C & O Canal. Not only will I not be going to Gencon, but I will put all my pbp and ftf games on hold as well after tonight and do not expect to even crack open a D&D book unless my parents want to see my author copy ones again.
