Free Trip Attempts and your weapon

Kahlenar

First Post
In Arms and Equipment there is a weapon quality called sweeping, granting a +4 bonus on trips made with the enchanted weapon. If a character were given a free trip attempt, such as the ones given by some of the tactical feats in Comp Warrior (elusive target grant them) would it be possible to count those trips as using the weapon, assuming you had melee with your target, like with a spiked chain.

Also, are there any other ways to increase your trip modifier beyond imp trip, str, sweeping weapon, and an obscure d20 modern feat.

does this sweeping also make the weapon a trip weapon?

Going from memory, but I think it was implied when the property first appeared... in Magic of Faerun, I think?

I seem to recall it was applied to a quarterstaff as an example or as a specific weapon... and since a quarterstaff isn't normally a Trip weapon, the implication is that the Sweeping property grants the ability as well as the bonus.

As far as using a trip weapon with Elusive Target, I'll need to reread the feat before I could say...
