FreeCountry (Free DnD Mapper)

Updated it today. You can download from any of the links in this thread, or from my main site, or forums. New features are as follow:

- Shortcut Keys for every menu item.
- WASD quick-change the rotation in paint mode, where W is the tile in it's original position (no rotation), A is it facing left, S is it straight down, and D is it facing to the right.
- An about / help menu*
- Locked the New Map window so it couldn't be resized or minimized/maximized (no need for it, really).

* The about window is simple and should be fully functional. The help menu item, however, is there for place-holding purposes. I'm compiling an HTML help file that will accompany the program, so any suggestions as to what all should be in it (beside the comprehensive features guide) would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Today I had a bit of time, and created some spell-effect tiles from scratch. They have the correct filenames and should work, as soon as they are copied into the "Spells"-directory.

I've used the 20-ft.-radius for the fireball, thus it's huge, and created tiles for the Wall of Force, Wall of Stone, and Wall of Fire (fire-coloured, and violet, as in SRD description).

Perhaps I'll do some terrain tiles later, but this means, I have to photograph some real terrain (since I don't want to use stock material/anything not 100% original).

Lord Tirian - Thank you very much! You rock! Will you post these into my User Created forum on my site? I'd post them myself, but I'd like for each user to get credit for their creations instead of someone not reading through my post and thinking it was me.

Thank you again! They look great!

Notmousse, thanks for the interest!

As a general update to the thread, I'm currently working on allowing the window to be resizable. Updated files should go up in the next day or two.

Hah! That was the only really annoying thing 'bout it! ;) - and yeah, I'm a bit busy, but this week, I'll register for your forum, and also try to do some more tiles :)

I'm tempted to release it as it is now (with support for maximizing and resizing, although it still disposes of the painted background). But I refrain, only because I don't want someone getting frustrated when they start working on a map, remember they can resize now! and promptly have to start back over for their effort.

Well, it's been an uphill battle, but I finally got the resizing window setup working 100% correctly. Immediate on the to-do list is to optimize the code, because larger maps (30 inch by 30 inch) can take up to 5 seconds to come down from the drawing functions ... I suppose copying a 13mb texture from video to system memory will cause a bit of a bottleneck ;) If it acts sluggish for large maps, know that this will be fixed in the next update or two. Link to download is at the top.

Edit: Also, I'm not sure how many people are actually using this, but I think I know that at least three are, lol. Can I get a show of hands? And how on earth do you make the front page?! Do I have to slap a version readout and post a new thread for each update? Thanks :D

Every post should bump the thread to the front page, I believe. But it's then immediately pushed off by threads in the more active forums. Such is life. :)

I haven't used the app yet because I haven't gotten around to installing .NET.

Let me know what you think whenever you can (I'm always looking for suggestions). I was referring to EnWorld's news page, not the forums, lol.
