Freedom of Movement

*shamelss bump*

Perhaps I should ask if freedom of movement causes me to drop to the bottom of the ocean or if flaming and frost stack! :) THEN I'd get people to read and have an opinion.

Freedom of Movement

Abjuration
Level: Clr 4, Drd 4, Luck 4, Pal 4, Rgr 4
Components: V, S, M, DF
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Personal or touch
Target: The character or creature touched
Duration: 10 minutes/level
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No or Yes (harmless)

This spell enables the character or the creature the character touches to move and attack normally for the duration of the spell, even under the influence of magic that usually impedes movement.

The spell also allows a character to move and attack normally while underwater, even with cutting weapons and with bludgeoning weapons provided that the weapon is wielded in the hand rather than hurled. The freedom of movement spell does not, however, allow water breathing.

I'm going to shamelessly bump again because I still don't have an answer.

I don't want to screw the player over, but at the same respects I don't think it should be a get out of jail free card for grappling either. Where is the line drawn?

Well... Freedom of movement doesn't dispel a hold spell... it just turns it off for a certain number of rounds. If the Hold spell lasts longer then the domain power, the hold spell will come into full effect once 'freedom of movement' has ended... So... if it doesn't break (or dispel) the hold spell, then it shouldn't break the grapple either. But it would allow you to attack normally or move... assuming you can carry the guy attached to you! And once the spell or domain power has worn off, you are still grappled... assuming you haven't escaped normally or just killed the guy on your back.

I guess that's okay, it doesn't prevent the guy from holding onto you, it just makes him easier to carry! :) I wish the spell had a better discription.
