Freelance Traveller #123 e-zine

So the May/June issue is up over here and while it's mostly business as usual (although Pirates of Drinax comic seems to be longer than ever) it's got one new feature - there's a solo board game called Chamax Escape. Based on the events in the LBB Chamax Plague/Horde double adventure, you play as a survivor of the initial debacle where the Raschev militia got overrun by Bugs and are now on the run from the rapidly-spreading Horde and trying to reach safety to the north (or by sea if you want to take your chances on beating the bugs to a port). It's a simple little thing with a lot of randomness but still feels very nostalgic. Reminds me of the kind of bound-in games that once appeared irregularly in Dragon, Space Gamer, Ares, etc. Quite similar in both theme and complexity to the first half of Task Force Games' old Survival/Barbarian double microgame - which seem appropriate, since it was originally a magazine game in early White Dwarf itself.

Can't recall ever seeing a "magazine game" in the old JTAS/Challenge mag, so this might be the first Traveller-based one ever made. Worth a print-and-play if you want a light solo session - but maybe use tokens or counters or something to mark terrain as you explore rather than drawing right on the hex map so you don't have to waste paper and ink each playthrough.
