"whadya mean 'or madam', can't you tell I'm a guy!?" a gruff looking man says as he throws a punch at Farear.
The man seems drunk and he throws a punch that Farear easily dodges. A woman runs out and gets him to stop before he can get any further, and she drags him back inside.

oodm: sorry, I couldn't resist :D

IDM: The colony doesn't seem to have many defenses at first glance, but mabye the mayor or someone could tell the players more.

If Taloquar takes a long enough walk, he'll reach the other side of the island where he finds a small dwelling within a cave. A rowboat is up on shore, and there is some food and water as well as fishing nets and such within the cave. There is also a wooden board and some cloth that looks like it might suffice as a cot.

Farear never stops smiling through the man's threats and turns to Tycho as if nothing had ever happened. "Friendly people around here! Wonder where we could find a place to stay while we're in port...?"

Nobody answers Taloquars calls.

If Farear looks around a bit he'll find about 2 local inns and a tavern plus the mayors officehouseplacething, where the small police force is also set up. Most of the other places are just small shops and houses of the people who came to live here.

"Could be one o' my sect. Certainly has tha' look aboot it."

Taloquar wanders around the area, looking for signs of recent habitation: a warm a firepit, the freshness of the food, that sort of thing. He also checks for signs that there may have been a second boat (ie drag marks or footprints going out into the surf).

After that - and assuming no-one turns up in that time - he finds a secluded spot, wild-shapes into a sea hawk, and flies up into the air for a look around that way.

"So where did they go?" wonders Thalia, "Well, I'm going in search of a decent bottle of wine, anybody coming?"
She makes her way to the dock and goes in search of a tavern.

Taloquar sees a fire pit that has been recently used, and finds a store of some vegtables and fish in the cave. A old man who is obviously blind wanders to the entrance of the cave, and seeming to sense Taloquars presence says "who's there?" and raises his staff in case he should need to use it.

Wilphe goes to the only tavern in the colony and starts to have a drink. The tavern doesn't seem that crouded at this point.

"A bonny good day to you, sir. Please forgive my intrusion, but I ha' thought ye might be one of m'folk. M'name is Taloquar Silverwake, and I intend ye nae harm."

Thalia seeks a corner table, orders some heavily spiced wine (if she can get it) and sits back and relaxes, taking the opportunity to enjoy an enviroment that doesn't smell of mould, stale sweat and bilge water. While she's not actively seeking to talk to anyone she'll quite happily sit there and listen to gossip.

There are only two groups of lumberjacks in the bar, at first talking about the annoyances of the recent sahuigan attacks, and then switching to telling fictional tales of their travels to the island of Nebkazar (a legendary place that hasn't ever been found, but is a place where supposedly one of the biggest battles in the war of the world between many different mages who all died in a rampant explosion of magic. The legendary island is now supposed to be a place where you can feel the magic in the air.)

And back at the old man's cave:
"oh, well, you never can be too careful with things how they are these days. What brings you here, you don't seem like much of a colonist to me?" The old man says directly to you with an uncanny accuracy for a blind man. "would you like some fish?"
