"...I bet the reason you're here is because some smart ship captain hired some guards."

Farear smacks the table. "Aye, that's the reason! I knew you were a smart man the moment I layed eyes on you. Now lets see if you can understand Common." Farear leans over to the bartender and says, slowly and quietly, "I. Would. Like. To. Order. A. Drink." He points at what Thalia has. "One. Of. Those. Please." He leans back.

grumble grumble... ignore me, why don't you....

Bar:
The bartender fills up a drink while mumbling something about arrogant sea elves and how's he supposed to be able to read minds.
"here's your drink."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cave:
The old man just talks about his routine days of fishing and some of his great catches and some of the fights he's had with sahuigans. He thinks they may be living or harvesting materials from the islands around.

"Do ye know of any way we might see signs of where t'beasts be hidin'? Perhaps we can take the fight tae them, instead o' the other way 'round."

Taloquar makes a mental note to change into eagle form once he leaves the old man's cave, and make an aerial survey of the island.

Thalia, "If you have to be sarcastic Farear could you please at least try to be funny. You can swim home if you have to, I can't," to the locals, "So we're the first escorts you've seen since the trouble started? Not sure if that is good for us or not."

"The first escorts...no, we've seen a couple others, some through battles and some not, I'm sure there's also a couple that have fallen to the sahuigan. The sahuigan haven't been attacking with many ships at once, a maximum of three have been seen, but the frequency shows that they must have a fairly big fleet."

The bartender gives Farear a strange look at the big tips, but keeps serving drinks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"well, most likely they're underwater, but if they're on land it'd probably be fairly easy to see them. And also if you see schools of sharks, they might be hanging around the sahuigan."

"Thank ye for your advice, and for ye fish." Taloquar stands and offers the man his hand to shake, curious to see if the apparently blind Galindor will sense it. "But now, I had best return t'the ship."

Taloquar will make his farewells and walk back half a mile or so, then wildshape into an eagle and fly up to get a look at the lay of the land: size, shape and settlement of the current island, plus the location of any other islands that might be nearby.

"I suppose you've no idea where they are harbouring the ships or we could burn them out. Any islands nearby?", Thalia raises her eyebrows to the barman at Farear's mood swings as if to say "Look, I'm an Elf as well and I think he's flighty."

"You think we're crazy enough to go and find em? Kalimdor sent a couple warships in the past, and sunk a couple sahuigan ships, but wrote it down as nothing too bad, just normal sahuigan activity. They didn't find any big settlements, but you might be able to find some."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"and thanks for talking about some sensible topics with an old hermit such as myself," the old man says as he shakes your hand with a firm grip, "if you ever want to know anything else you can always come ba" he cuts off and spins around. A small sahuigan pokes its head around the entrance to the cave and looks around. The old man pushes his hand outward and spins it around and the sahuigan flies back in a spiraling pattern with a splurt of blood. From outside of the cave you hear some surprised hisses and other noises and splashes of water.
"they come practically every year like clockwork, the sahuigan that are coming of age have to see the old man for themselves. It almost makes me feel sorry I have to maim or kill them, but they are sahuigan."

"A fair right o' passage for the sahuagin, t'be sure, though I much prefer m'own folk's tradition. A large dram o' whiskey, neat and in one swallow." Taloquar grins fondly at the memory, then takes his leave of the old hermit.

As soon as he is out of sight of the cave, the druid heads out into the water and wildshapes into the form of a shark. If the sahuagin are still nearby, it's possible they will lead him straight to their lair.
