Freely Manifests/Casts?

The Iron Mark

First Post
If a creature has the ability to freely cast/manifest a spell/power that has an XP cost, what happens? Does the spell/power not work or do you cast/manifest it normally but it has no XP cost?

In the FRCS they explained that any spell that was converted to a spel-like ability still had any costly material components and XP costs (although you could use a really expensive focus instead of the component).

...directly contradicting the MM (page 7).

perhaps that only applies to spells that are converted to spell-like abilities.

After all, the only reason it was mentioned, was for the Innate Spell feat.

If it an SLA - yes they can manifest it without paying the added costs.

If it is an innate spell - acquired in a fashion similar to the feat in the FRCS - then they can do so according to those rules.

If it is a spell that must actually be cast - they pay XP/component/focus/divine focus costs accordingly. Most important for solars who need holy symbols...
