My FB
Thanks for coming to my defense.
The full story is that I was joining a Forgotten Realms campaign of 18th level characters so I made the Barbarian/Holy Liberator/FB from scratch and gave him a back story. He had been a prisoner and gladiator and one day freaked out and killed his captors. He then found god (a goddess actually - Liira) and became a Holy Liberator with the goal of freeing all the slaves.
The obscene part is that when you are a 6th level FB and a 6th level Holy Liberator, you have a terrific Will Save (some magic items helped too) and you are immune to most mind-control! So once you go into a frenzy, ain't nuthin' gonna stop you - except yourself (of course you don't have the problem of attacking fellow party members since you can make a DC20 on anything but a 1). Oh, and the Holy Liberator can heal fatigue/exhaustion so you can keep frenzying all day long.
It was really very broken, but what isn't at 18th level? The wizard in the part just kept disintegrating things and despite the fact that I had Supreme Cleave, I never got the chance - not once - to cleave anything because the party killed the small fries so darn fast (and it's not like you fight hordes of orcs at 18th level) and I was always toe-to-toe with the main baddy.
As for the role-playing, it was awesome! My maxed out FB/HL worshipped the goddess of dancing!!! He'd charge into battle screaming "By Liira's Dance Slippers I will slay you!" And as a good servant of Liira, he'd rather be partying than fighting (unless someone was being wrongfully imprisoned).
And the real reason I made the character was because I had purchased Complete Divine and Complete Warrior and had yet to get any real use out of them. So I combined my favorite class from each and then worked out the role-playing aspect. Role-playing is key, but sometimes role-playing is helped by making the character you really want to play.
Saeviomagy said:I have no problems with people taking mechanical devices to simulate roleplaying aspects. A frenzied berserker who wigs out when he sees individuals in chains is fine to me.
