Whoops. Again, shoot.
I re-read the weapon break rules in 3.0 and 3.5, and the FSTS section. To clarify my previous very muddy post:
Are the Break DCs in FSTS of two handed wood haft weapons too high? And I'm guessing Improved Sunder would still be useful for the 'strike to break' under the deteroriation rules.
For a strength check of D20+3, an 18 or higher seems a bit distant for lopping off a wood handle if you're swinging a two handed sword at it. It (obviously) gets a wee bit harder if a long sword is used as well (DC 23). Were hafts really that difficult to sunder? I always imagined them being the circumference of an empty toilet roll; almost flimsy. What do you think about perhaps quartering the HP for two handed hafts instead of only halving them? (Greatsword DC 15, Longsword DC 17, it seems more reasonable)

Str 16 Greatsword vs Halberd
2d6 + 3 STR Bonus: 9
New Halberd HP: 26
Halberd Break DC: 5 (H) +13 (HP) + 8 (Sz L) - 5 (Steel GS) = 21
Break DC 21
