Frostburn Spells I: Obscuring Snow

Sounds to me it only has certain useful applications. Cant exactly walk around town with a snowstorm blowing around you, and no Inn would want you inside. So indoor adventures shouldnt be changed. And if the temperature isnt exactly freezing, arent you leaving a lot of snow slush behind, that could make an interesting balance check in situations.

Just thinkining outloud. Seems like a good combination, but plenty of situations would just ignore it, or it would be out of place.

Initiative order ... they can't all stay within it all the time. :D

Sure they can...

The area of the spell is 30 feet, centered on the caster. You have 3 party members right next to the caster (5 feet). During init, when each party member gets their turn, they move up 20 feet (that would be 20 feet from the caster/center and 10 feet from the edge of the spell). They can move, at a slower pace, and never have to exit the area.

It's an area effect spell, and they're within the area of that spell?
How?

Obscuring Snow has a radius of 30 feet, right? Dispel Magic has a radius of 20 feet. You can't see where they are, and you can't cover most of the radius. You've got a problem there.

I never said it was a gaurantee. You can toss the dispell and possibly get lucky, you can have your own means of seeing through the snow and then aim it where you want, you can be a creature with an at will dispel magic and plenty of time to experiment, etc.
