Frostburn Spells I: Obscuring Snow

James McMurray said:
I never said it was a gaurantee. You can toss the dispell and possibly get lucky, you can have your own means of seeing through the snow and then aim it where you want, you can be a creature with an at will dispel magic and plenty of time to experiment, etc.
Okay, now yer hedgin'! :]

Does it mention how big the fire based spell needs to be to disperse it?

Because so far, the Druid has burned through at least 5 spells for set up (1 2nd, 4 1st) for this.
Meanwhile we have Burning Hands, Scorching Ray, Produce Flame, Fire Trap, and Flame Blade from just the core spell lists. And that's just 1st-2nd level spells.

It's based on caster level, not spell level.

I think that the point he is making is that an area spell only eliminates one spell on each person in the area effect, and you start making checks from the highest level spell downwards - and as soon as you dismiss one of the spells, you move on to the next person.

i.e. 1st level spells are the last in the line to be checked, so they are least likely to end up being the one spell that gets dismissed.

Cheers

First level spells are only the last in line if their caster level is lower than every other active spell. Spell level doesn't play into the order of a Dispel Magic at all.

Because it's not possible to address. How many buffs dodes each person have active and what are their caster levels? What level are they and what level is the dispeller? There's too many variables to determine the likelihood of any particular spell being dispelled.

Alright, so other than in the unlikely/rare chance that a dispel magic just happens to take out the snowsights, back to the original question.

Is this spell broken and/or does it need tweaking?
