Frostburn: what are you doing with it?

Did she offer the party's rogue some Turkish delight?
Well, after using Google I finally know what you are talking about.
Strangely enough I've never read the Chronicles of Narnia but there are quite some parallels as it seems.
Maybe I should read it for inspiration... ;)

All in all, though, I'm glad I bought the now-defunct Monkey God Enterprises' Frost & Fur instead; F&F actually examines real-world arctic cultures, the Aluet/Inuit/Tlillik, the Norse, and the Slavs, as opposed to the generic fantasy clap-trap in Frostburn.

You'll have to pardon me, but what actual details are provided outside of game mechanics for those cultures? It's been a while but I don't recall a lot of actual background or historical information in the book as opposed to monsters, prestige classes, magic items and spells in Frost & Fur.

Actually nothing.

But I am using Monky God's Frost and Fur to run an adventure based on the the concept of the Wall from GRR Martin's ASOIAF.

Have I mentioned lately how good Frost and Fur is?

One thing that Forst and Fur and Frostburn would be great for, heck, almost vital for Strange Tribes and it's last little frozen continent with it's frozen gnomes.

From what I looked at, not much if any at all. More like crunch based on some real-world stuff and monsters. The look I got at it didn't really impress me much.

It looks like some of my ideas have already occured to others (though not surprising). I'm running a game set in the frozen north, a land where Norse dwarves once ruled, and where cults of Odin and Thor (and others) still meet in secrets in the remaining dwarven strongholds.

Also featured is a great wall, much like GRRM's, manned by the Knights of the Iron Glacier. A wall that is believed to be for keeping out the frost giants, but was actually made by the dwarves and giants in earlier times for another purpose.

I've held off on using a lot of the environmental rules, saving them for the colder region north of the wall; might be awhile before those come up, as the first crossing of the wall by the party resulted in near disaster. They've chosen to stick to the safer south for now.

I don't own Frostburn yet, but am intrigued by it. I could definitely see running a campaign in a frozen wasteland. Perhaps where the entire planet is an ice sphere ruled by despotic snow demons and the players are struggling to free the world from their icy grip, melt the ice and bring about the Age of Warmth.

Don't know...want to pick up the book anc check it out.

I know you can use bits from the book (monsters/magic/feats/etc.), but I'm thinking of running a campaign set in the snowbound North. What are the good campaign themes and arcs that you could use in that sort of arena?

I'm allowing it to ferment.
