Full Defense and Haste

Full Defense is a standard action, so can you go on Full Defense with your Haste action after your regular action (like after attacking) or even before your regular action?

If you go on Full Defense before your regular action, is the Full Defense negated as soon as you do anything but move with your remaining action?

"You can simply defend yourself and move during a round as a standard action. You don’t attack or perform any other activity other than moving your speed, but you get a +4 dodge bonus on your AC for 1 round. Your AC improves at the start of this action, so it helps you against any attacks of opportunity you suffer while moving."

I would think it would be negated. It's not much of a full defense when your trying to oh say smack someone with a full attack in your "regular action". It would only apply to your Hasted action, & if you took it before your regular action, that would be one hell of a waste

I recently used this kind of action. Down on 4 hit points I was going on Full Defense and then tumbling out of harms way. Once there, I used my Haste action to cast Shield, saying, that this will probably end my Full Defense. I think this was a fair judgement.

I'm just curious how this should generally be handled.

Since Full Defense is a standard action, and since it can be used with your partial action from Haste, as long as Full Defense is your last action of the round, then yes, it would work.

As Magic Rub already pointed out, and I agree, if you use your normal standard action for Full Defense and then use your haste partial action for an attack, you would cancel out your Full Defense. It depends on what order you do it in.
