Okay, simple question:
Which character build did you have the most fun playing or saw someone have a great time playing? Maybe for each of the different "food groups" of characters. Level Range 5-15
Here is my list: (I will use the 4th Ed. Terms to sort the characters, alltough it does not really matter. it is just the term in my mind right now)
Defender: Balrog, a Goliath FighterX/Barbarian1 using a build that makes him very versatile. He uses Quick Draw to rapidly switch between Sword&Board and Great Axe (And giving him full attacks with javelins), he can rage for extra damage and he has improved grapple, providing him with yet another extra option. He has Elusive Target as a defensive feat, which gives him further tanking power. In our game, fighters can use their 4th, 8th, 12th... Feat as a wild card feat, essentially allowing them to fill the feat slot as a swift action once per day for the rest of the day. He uses that feat to complete feat tree or react to special situations. (Favorite is Spring Attack, which he would otherwise have learned)
Leader: Amun Amil, a Cleric of Horus-Re in the Forgotten Realms. Played in the beginning days of 3rd Ed. (I think before the Cammpaign Setting was out). He Cleric wearing no armor and gaining no benefits by doing that and using the Sun Domain to great effect. Not a very powerful characters, but I am sure with the options you have know, he could be made powerful.
2nd Place - Caliburn, a redeemed Cleric of Bane, know LN Church Inquisitor of Tyr. Simply build (just become Chuch Inquisitor) but a great fun, non the less.
Controller: Mordred, a wizard who allways behaved like being the most powerful character not only in the group, but in the world. He was actually a conjurer, unable to cast a single evocation or enchantment spell, and rarely used damage spells at all. 2 or 3 well placed crowd controll spells were all he used to win many battles. Widend sculpted grease and web being among his favorites at lower levels.
Striker: Dorok, a Half-Ork Barbarian/Scout build for maximum speed and damage would fill this role. Still, that character did not survive for a long time. Somehow there never really were successful characters of this kind in our group.
