fun with harpies

Good morning all.

So, as a DM or a player, what kind of interesting encounters have you had with the iconic harpy?

When we went through the banewarrens we faced
A beholder and harpy archer combo. The beholder used antimagic while the harpy flew in the AM cone and peppered us with arrows. We were expecting the antimagic so my wizard got off a thrown jug of green slime on the beholder before I was nailed by a crit arrow and taken negative and out of most of the fight. It was a good fight with our paladin using his bow on the harpy enough to knock her out that the grievously wounded beholder had to go on the offensive instead of just pinning us with AM.
so that was a memorable one.

Sure. Always glad to help. I'd post the stat blocks, but if you're using witches instead, they presumably won't be of any help.

Thanks for the proposal, but I don't really need the stat-blocks (although others may be interested). I will use normal harpies with some levels of spellcasters. The fluff will be that:
PCs are searching for a coven of 3 witches to get some info or item or whatnot. During the adventure they meet with the three harpies, and of course must battle them. When those are defeated they finally understand these harpies were formely the 3 human witches who were eventually warped by Chaos for dabbling too much in magic (it's a sort of Stormbringer world with Grim Tales rules). Just fluff concerning the harpies.

One thing I plan to do if I get the opportunity. If some PC go forward (a scout) and fails his save (vs harpy song), I will tell him that he meet with the beautiful three witches, and one asks for sexual relationships to get the info / item / whatnot delivered. Just thereafter come the other PCs who see the three harpies and the entranced PC... It could be a memorable event! :D
