[Funny] Alternating gender pronouns

Re: maybe he/she is evil

On second thought, don't. Otherwise I wouldn't have an excuse to pretentiously rant...

Come on Voobaha, no one needs an excuse to do that. :)

Maybe they should go back to using the male pronouns exclusively for regular rules text and use female pronouns when necessary, such as when talking about a female iconic or NPC or something. Nobody who's really interested in D&D is going think they're being excluded just because the right pronoun isn't present throughout the book. Female players and characters always pop up in the examples, even in 2E where the male pronoun was used exclusively. I don't know...

I'm all for gender equality, but the flip-flopping pronouns can be disconcerting at times, if not outright confusing.

My guess is that an early draft used a generic "wizard", at which point the gender flip-flp might be understandable (not sensible, but understandable). At a later date maybe they decided to personify the wizard by giving him a name, at which point things become a bit ludicrous.

Cheers

I still find it hard to believe the description in the PHB of a female barbarian character. A raging woman, lacking manners, and wearing raggedy clothing is hard to imagine. For some reason, I find this character easier to visualize as being male. Not that there's anything wrong with a female barbarian character.

No Frank Frezetti(sp), Red Sonja and Axa pretty much made me happy to imagine a bigboobied woman in a tiny chainmail thong....

The gender of any example for a character of a given class (and possibly race as well) follows the iconics, therefore:

All paladins are female.
All barbarians are male.
All rangers are male.
All fighters are male.
All wizards are female.
All sorcerors are male.
All rogues are female.
All bards are male.
All illusionists are male (and by implication, probably all specialty wizards as well).
All clerics are male.
All druids are female.

If I've got my numbers right, the female-to-male hero ratio is 4 to 7 in the core rules, so it's kind of dumb to suggest that all good or neutral character examples in the core are female...

I hope you have Protection from Women, 10' radius, up at all times after that one, hong... if my experience making jokes about that is any indication...

The slings and arrows I'll suffer for my craft.

Anyway, AS IF any GURLZ play D&D!!1!1! They're all off doing GURL stuff like The Sims and Counterstrike. D&D is a MAN'S game, where we discuss MANLY issues, apply the WARPAINT, and DANCE around the campfire holding our SPEARS. If you know what I mean, and I think you do.

And for all the MEN in this forum, we need to REASSERT our RIGHTFUL STATUS as ^[*&098+_1dz[[,,,,,&`%!@*&
