Come on Voobaha, no one needs an excuse to do that.
Maybe they should go back to using the male pronouns exclusively for regular rules text and use female pronouns when necessary, such as when talking about a female iconic or NPC or something. Nobody who's really interested in D&D is going think they're being excluded just because the right pronoun isn't present throughout the book. Female players and characters always pop up in the examples, even in 2E where the male pronoun was used exclusively. I don't know...
I'm all for gender equality, but the flip-flopping pronouns can be disconcerting at times, if not outright confusing.
