I am going through an old Module called the Duchy of Ten (set in Blackmoor) and the name of the evil superbeing is ... "EGG OF COOT"

The EGG OF COOT rocks! Dont mess with him. :) My favorite names of module slliness come from the pregens for the Giants series and Descent into the Depths. How about this band of hardy adventurers:
Fonkin Hoddypeak
Beek Gwenders of Croodle
Fnast Dringle
Keak Breedbate of Nithe
Darg Blonke
Ycore Rixie
Shab Heanling
Fage the Kexy
Philotomy Jurament
Cloyer Bulse the Magsman
Roaky Swerked
Frush O' Suggil
Flerd Trantle
Redmod Dumple
Faffle Dwe'o-mercraeft

and my favorite of all..................... Gleep Wurp the Eyebiter :D

When I ran the G-D-Q series back in the early 1980s, the party hired a couple of those oddly named characters, Roaky Swerked and I think maybe Fonkin Hoddypeak, to help fill out the expedition.
Gygax always did come up with some weird names. I wonder if he has some sort of complex about names that he picked up from kids on the playground considering his name isn't exactly as mundane as Johnson or Andrews.

Wasn't the King of the Fire Giants (in Against the Giants) called Snurr and his wife was Froopy? I never ran it but my DM used those names so I assumed that was straight from the book.

I think having a sense of humor was mandatory back then. Tunnels & Trolls had some interesting names in it - the demonstration character (who was pitifully weak) was named Fang the Delectable.

Spell names were also funny - the 1st level blast spell was called "Take That You Fiend", fear was called "Oh, Go Away," and the charm spell was called "Yassa Massa". I didn't get that last one until somebody blurted it loudly in a stereotyped voice later on... Another was "Freeze Please", "Blasting Power", etc.

Snurre (I always pronounced it "Snurr-ee") Ironbelly, King of the Fire giants. He was a darned tough Fire Giant. If I were re-making him, I'd give him levels in Fighter or barbarian - maybe one of each. :D
