Where are the underwear monsters from?

The raggamoffyns are in the 3e Monster Manual 2. They're converted from a 2e Monstrous Compendium Annual, but I don't remember which one. Maybe III.

Raggamoffyns first appeared in City of Splendors (1994) and then in the Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume Two (1995) before their leap to the 3rd Edition Monster Manual II (2002).

Huh? Sea lion is the name for a group of real life animals...

I'd say that's exactly why the author thinks it's incredibly silly to use the name for this chimeric being. The creature is a living pun, like a 'football', i.e. a spherical creature consisting only of feet...

I tend to agree with the selection of creatures. Most of these are on my personal list of monsters that are simply too silly to make me consider ever using them.

Some others: Piercer, Avalancher, Executioner's Hood (?), Roper, Rust Monster, etc.

Avalancher is a clearly meant to be on the list of goofy creatures.


This creature needs a redesign and put into snow and ice. I could understand it more that way.

Some of the most fun I've ever had running D&D was a one shot using almost solely MMIV. The highlight of which was using aforementioned howler wasps, chasing the one surviving party member who was using the corpse of his fellow adventurer as the foundation of a raft going down white-water rapids.

I love this game.
