Agree completely. I'm still "chasing the high" of seeing Fury Road, unspoiled by anything but the trailer, in the theatre. I don't think there's really been an action movie that good since.Definitely not the best Mad Max movie, but certainly in the top two or three. (That said, they all distantly trail Fury Road, which is an absolute masterpiece.)
We did essentially the same. My wife and I have had exceptional luck with going to Rotten Tomatoes, saying "that has a 99% or 100% rating, let's give it a shot."Agree completely. That is generally a pretty good bet - I've rarely missed with that sort of RT rating. Honestly if something has a ton of reviews anything above about 91% is likely extremely good (because the larger the sample of the reviews, the more you'll get an imperfect score from simple churlishness). Most recent really good movie I've seen was Anora, that is a truly great movie and also not quite what one expects. My wife and I have had exceptional luck with going to Rotten Tomatoes, saying "that has a 99% or 100% rating, let's give it a shot."
