I'm rather perplexed by the Elemental power source. With elemental and chaotic magic being part of Arcane, I wonder what do they have in mind...

From what we've seen so far, I think the main theme will be the Elemental Chaos & the Primordials. Yeah, the elements will play a part, but it will probably be something that helps define the primordial nature of the classes, kind of like how Warlocks have the different pacts. It will be interesting, if it is Elemental Chaos, to see how the classes mechanically and stylistically compare and contrast between Elemental Chaos on one side, Divine on the other, and Primal in between the two.

That said, I think the announced-but-unreleased power sources are plenty for the official stuff for a while.

Hell, they can make anything a power source. Primal? I mean, primal? Power source isn 't necessarily like it was in previous editions where psionics, arcane, and divine were real 'outside' power sources but are merely expalantions for how people do their cool stuff. Martial Power? What does that come from? The plane of Kung Fu?

It's a cool concept mind you but they can do anything with it, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

The Primal power source is probably a bad example for what you're trying to say, as it is IMO the most well-defined power source in the game, given the attention it received in the PHB2. Its as external as the Divine power source. And I always thought that the Martial power source was the "mundane" power source, accessed through skill, practice, and physical/mental prowess.

Ki is the power of the soul itself, as mentioned in Open Grave, and might not end up 'oriental adventure'ized. Primal, for those who think it has no definition, is magics of the spirits of the world itself.

Shadow is a confirmed power source, and exists now in a warlord PP. Elemental might be a powersource, but that might end up being difficult when Chaos Sorcerers cover that very well... it might end up being described as Chaos instead. I dunno.
