Futurama Bender's Game

I didn't catch it on TV, but it's been out for awhile. Probably my favorite of the direct-to-DVD Futurama movies. Definetally worth catching. Knowing the history of Futurama will help a lot, but is probably not required.

They may be winding down the show finally (and it's been four video movies, by now). Once the amount of self-parody gets fairly high, it is a sure sign that the writers have begun to feel they have exhausted the concept.

Very good choice for those who are not familiar with Futurama but are into D&D - lots of D&D gags. Geysers of Gygax indeed!

I got the distinct impression from the way the fourth movie ended that the writer/director/whoever is in charge doesn't plan for there to be any more. Sad, but inevitable.

Also, I would like to add that Bender's Game actually seems like a full movie. This is in contrast to, for example, Beast with a Billion Backs, which seemed a lot more like a really long episode.

(according to dvd commentaries on the different movies)
The original plan = Make 4 movies, each of which could be split in to 4 episodes (thus making 16 new episodes for comedy central), with the general theme and 'major plot points' for each movie already spelled out during initial planning.
The end of the 4th movie was to serve as a 'finale' in case comedy central didn't want more episodes beyond the 16. But if the network does want more, then they will continue on with it, they just still had to account for the possibility of 'not' in the way they wrote the end to the 4th movie.

Now the question is, will comedy central opt for more? I don't think that decision was made yet (or if it was made, it hasn't been announced).

Mind you, I *love*(!!!!) futurama. But, personally, I don't know if they can do much else at this point without it feeling contrived (and parts of some of the movies were starting to feel that way).

It was obviously part of the parody, but the 'big reveal' seemed to me a sign that there wasn't much more to tell.

I enjoyed it, but was absorbed with worrying about a school project so didn't pay as close attention as I would have liked.

I hadn't seen any of the other Futurama "movies" except for Bender's Game, and it felt like episodes smashed together. I liked the first thirty minutes where Bender gets into the game, but after that, it was their usual "hold on for dear life as this story is gonna get craaazzzyyy!"

I was trying to figure out what was going on with Mamma's Boys - is this a rip off of the 3 Stooges or something else?

I'd give it 3 out of 5.
