In my case, I seek out giallo - primarily Italian, but also some Spanish and French, dating back to the mid-1960s (some of them are very difficult to source on DVD or in digital format, and must be procured on VHS or even film). I haven't gone as heavy on this as I did back in the mid-2010s when I was actively seeking out those giallo available only on tape or film and digitzing them for personal viewing. Now I just watch them when I can find them (I'm no longer actively archiving them).

Italian movies are captivating

More an interests than a hobby, I suppose, but I love the theatre. We try to go and see a couple of new plays or musicals each year. Live music too, nothing beats live performance.

My other interest / vice is fast cars. Every car I have ever bought has been a performance car of some stripe or other.

Nice. I used to be into fast cars, even raced them, though as I said looking at a friend's new corvette recently, I think that would just get me a fat speeding ticket. The other day he told me he was ticketed for exceeding the speed limit by quite a bit. I was scanning the marketplace for fun, and saw a car I have wanted for a long time: a '55 desoto firedome, its got a 276 Hemi, just a cruiser though, not that much either, runs and drives:

That's pretty much why I gave up on motorcycles. Well, and the fact that my knees can't really handle racing posture and movement for more than a few laps anymore, let alone a protracted street ride. These days the things that we could get away with on the street, merely risking a couple of hundred bucks and a ticket as little as 20 years ago, will now make you lose your license for a month. Even commuting has become dangerous, in the Toronto area, for riders.

Speed in a straight line? That means nothing. Double the limit in a corner? That's where you come alive ;)

I used to read more, I used to walk more and explore my surroundings, I used to sketch and draw; but now I just sit around watching TV shows/movies if I'm not gaming.

I guess I have started to collect Transformers toys. I guess that's an interest, I just think they're cool and they've brought out some awesome ones.

Rules: No gaming answers of any kind. No video games. No board games. No Sunday crossword. Nada.

One of my hobbies is pedantry, which I can indulge by noting that "puzzles" and "games" are really two different activities, and crosswords should not count as games for purposes of hobby discussion. :p

What are your hobbies and interests outside of various forms of gaming? When and how did you find yourself interested in that? If you can, describe the joy it brings you.

I am a homeowner, so I have a hobby in home maintenance whether I like it or not. It brings me the joys of shopping for tools, and faucets that don't drip.

My wife and I are hobby cooks, I got into it because I gotta eat. I get the joys of doing stuff with my wife, and a highly varied diet with exposure to new ingredients and cuisines.

I'm also the most basic kind of nerd, so reading and consuming sci-fi and fantasy books and media at significant rates is a hobby of mine. Is this one common enough that I don't have to explicate the joys of it?

I hear you. I gave up on them when my wife got pregnant, had a suzuki gs 1100, the friend I sold it to then his wife was mad at me.

Drinking, cooking and grilling, and playing & collecting guitars. Reading comics too. I used to play pool and darts but seeing as I don't go to bars much anymore and have a few herniated discs in my back that's not really an option anymore.

NIce. What kind of guitars do you have?

I wish I still had all my old guitars. Right now I just have an Ibanez. I want to get another classical (sold mine to get the Ibanez) and need to pick up a Mandolin too (I used to play when I was younger)
