D&D 5E Future 5th Edition books you'd *like* to see?

Monster Manual 2 - more than anything else. And yes, I know there are 3rd party monster books out there now. And no, I'm still not going to buy them. My interest is in the official treatment of classic and specific D&D monsters (demodands, kopru, aurumvoraxes, froghemoths, etc), with WotC's production standards and artwork.

Deities & Demigods - focused on avatars, domains, rites, rituals and holy places - not stats for fighting the gods themselves. I legitimately enjoy reading the old 1e and 2e Deities books, simply for their "take" on real world pantheons. Especially the slightly more obscure ones: Finnish, Nehwon, Athurian, Aztec, etc. We all know what Thor looks like, but I'm interested to see an artistic depiction of Ukko, Issek of the Jug, Sir Breuse Sans Pitie, or Tlazolteotl. Especially Tlazolteotl.

Planescape - anything Planescape. Manual of the Planes, Adventurer's Guide to the Planes, Fiendish Compendium, module compilation, maps, Fiend Folio supplement, whatever. If it's Planescape, I'll buy it.

B4 "The Lost City" - updated for 5e and given the whole "Curse of Strahd" treatment. 256 page miniature campaign setting and levels 1-12 adventure path, covering the full 10 levels of the ziggurat and the underground cavern of Cynidicea. Also, Zargon as a premium huge-sized mini.

Monster Manual 2

Cardboard monsters (either flat tokens or standing up like Pathfinder Pawns. I would like s set with alll the monsters in the MM and with the original artwork from that book)

edit: More adventurers similar in scope, style and length to the one from the Starter Set

-a book with more options for pummeled-to-death classes (e.g. Sorcerer)

-boxes (as old AD&D campaign settings). Polls to know what worlds are preferred.

Take everything Mouseferatu said and add Magic Item and Spell Compendiums along with some more races and a way to create playable monsters!

I think we will probably get that last one in an Unearthed Arcana one of these days.

Monster Manual 2
Psionics Handbook
Eberron Campaign Setting
A Spell Compendium/Magic Item Compendium/2e Tome of Magic type book
Manual of the Planes/Planescape/Sigil Guide

The DMGuild can fill in the rest.

I would like a series of high-quality adventures just like Lost Mine of Phandelver, in the same exact format - softcover, roughly 64 pages or less, nice art throughout, which could be purchased for around 10 bucks. I would want various adventures of various levels (1-5, 2-6, 6-10, 11-15, etc) and while I would not want them all to be tied together, it would be nice if users can mix and match different ones to form their own multi-level campaign. They should be written to allow this to be easily done.

The current hardback adventures are nice, but I miss the days of multiple smaller, less expensive modules that can be picked up and played without alot of prep.

Also, official D&D 5e pawns would be fun. I'd buy those.

Two main things I'd like to see, other than old settings:

1. A hexcrawl sourcebook/setting/adventure. I'm thinking part should be about how to run and prepare a hexcrawl (exploration-based wilderness adventure), and the other part should be a worked example. Plenty of somewhat-detailed random encounters (NOT just fights), some fixed places, and perhaps an over-arching theme to tie them together (mysteries that get explained gradually).

2. Moar monsters.
Two main things I'd like to see, other than old settings:

I like the hexcrawl idea. The most fun I have ever had playing d and d was probably a group of murder hobos adventuring across the continent, fighting feuds, pillaging, surviving and running! My barbarian, Mogar the fat ran for his life carrying his halfling companions. That larcenous bunch of creeps! Yes, I vote for hexcrawling....

In no particular order:

  • Additional Monster Manuals (themed by monster type, with more fluff)
  • Planescape Campaign Setting
  • Spelljammer Campaign Setting
  • Encyclopedia Magicka
  • Unearthed Arcana (A collection of optional rules, psionics, new backgrounds, subclasses, feats and the like)
  • Shorter Adventures

I'm all for more monsters and magic items. I'm wary of adding more player content except where it supports a particular style of campaign. I want it to be easy to say what options I'm adding to the core, based on the campaign I'm trying to run.

UNEARTHED ARCANA - Consisting of fully fleshed out versions of all the stuff they've previewed in the Unearthed Arcana Articles

Fiend Folio - Basically a second Monster Manual

First and foremost, Eberron campaign setting. After that more monster books, a book of magic items and artifacts, Ravenloft setting.
