Re: "d20 Future" for d20 MODERN

Gang, I think you should know that this planned "d20 Future" product is going to be a d20 Modern rules expansion supplement, NOT a new core rulebook.

They did the right thing, then, if you ask me. After d20 Modern watered character classes down to the least common denominator (STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, CHA) I really don't see how they could make a whole new generic system and have it offer anything different. I was reading this topic and thinking "Why couldn't this just fall under the d20 Modern heading?"

Well, it's not just that. Most of the d20 Modern combat and vehicle rules have already laid the foundation for the futuristic elements. All we need is some added rules and stats for roleplaying the science fiction genre: soft, hard, and anime/fantasy.

Let the voting begin:

Bughunt/Aliens
Cyberspace/Matrix
Dystopian Future/Bladerunner
Tom Cruise D20/Minority Report

Which do you want to see ?

To my mind, Tom Cruise/Bladerunner are close enough that they can be melded into a single setting. Cyber-anything is also kinda passe. ;)

My votes:

Bughunt/"Aliens"
Star Command/"Trek"/"Forbidden Planet"
"Harder" SF/Heinlein-Niven*-Asimov**

I would also vote for "Pulp SF" (which "Forbidden Planet" also fits in), but Star Wars basically fills that role already.

* "Tales of Known Space d20" is something I would love to see.

**I'm kinda suprised that Asimov's Robot novels haven't been made/ripped-off into an RPG setting. Or have they?

Speaking of ripping off stuff...

Has anyone ever done Dune in an RPG? I recall video games, but no RPGs...

or Robert Silverburg's Majipoor series?

LUG released a Dune RPG at the GenCon just before they went under. A few copies are known to exist.

I don't think anyone's done Majipoor.

Ugh, What a shame. :D

My vote:

Cyberspace/Matrix

I would like to see a system for generating dual statistics for the character and an advancement system that allows for grow in either/both.
