I don't have any problems with understanding that article. And I'm not even a native English speaker.

It's nice that a whole thread can be spent with complaining about the news without discussing the actual contents .

Given that more than one person has said they didn't understand portions of these notes, I think it's not really succeeding at "up-to-the-minute news."

Given that more than one person has posted that they did understand it, I'd say it has.

Normally I'm all for holding writers and editors to high standards, but in this type of situation, I don't see anything worth complaining about. I don't see any other industry sites posting such info as it happens. At best, we may get a few posters who start a thread or post to one, and I haven't seen any go into any kind of detail.

Holy sour grapes Batman. Someone goes to the trouble of sharing the notes he took at GenCon and people have the nerve to bash him for not editing/re-writing the whole thing?!? Sheesh. Next time maybe he won't post at all. I'm sure there's better things to do at GenCon then sit in his hotel room re-typing his notes for a bunch of ungrateful schmoes on the net... :\

What is the point of writing if you cannot convey a message. Half of what is said is unintelligible.

Ok, so post some comments about the news. My point is the I have no idea what he is talking about. Is there a future for the magazines? It's hard to tell by what is written.

And I see no excuse for bad writing. A few typos here and there would be fine, but we're talking about someone doing little more than editing their shorthand.

Well, I don't see anything "unintelligible" there. Whatever.

As far as the news go, there are no real news. Except the part concerning adventure path #3 and the "full issue" adventures, maybe. The rest has been written several times in one of the recent Dungeon or Dragon threads here on EN World or in the magazine editorials. No big revelations there .

Edit: I don't say that there are not a lot of typos. One of my favourites is: "We are going to be flushing out core pantheon from PH with longer articles." Even though I had to chuckle, it should be clear what is meant . And the "oncology" was obviously "ecology" (not "ontology"), one of the standard formats in the magazine.

I just wanted to post a big middle finger to GamingReport. I posted a reply to the article commenting quite truthfully, if admittedly tactlessly, about the poor English. But you won't find it there, because the cowards deleted it.

It's a copy/paste type-as-they-speak report directly from Windows Notepad right after the speech has ended. Really, I don't expect something like this to be written in accurate and grammatically correct English. It's something like a live report, not a sophisticated essay being written at home with ample time to edit and proof-read it.

Even I could understand what was being said there and English is certainly not my native language so I don't see a problem here :\

The simple fact is: did they need to put it up within 30 minutes of the seminar ending? Couldn't they have at least taken another half-an hour or so to make it legible? Geeze.

I don't see what the big deal is. With my several years of experience reading message boards, chat rooms, and online gaming communication, this wasn't anywhere near incomprehensible.

The issue isn't that it's incomprehensible. The issue is that with even MINIMAL effort it could and should have been written in complete, gramattically correct sentences, paragraphs, etc. particularly since an EDITOR (one whose job it is to ensure that submitted articles are indeed written in complete, gramatically correct sentences, paragraphs...) apparantly was employed. The exceptionally LOW quality of what was presented reflects very poorly on the author, the editor and the website that published it.

No, the criticism is quite valid. Dismissal of valid criticism and thus tacit forgiveness of sloppy work is asinine.
