Fuzzy Knights and Bike Trip

First Post
Well, as much as I love working on Fuzzy Knights and Roleplaying, it is only ONE of my interests.

You see... my philosoply is "What's the point of creating or playing adventures and never actually BE in one?"

A few years ago I bicycled 6000 kilometers across Canada (about 4 months), and a few years before that I went about 1000 klicks from Toronto to Halifax (about 2 weeks). Now, I feel I have been idle too long, so it's time for a new adventure. Starting on Wednesday I'm going to be bicycling from Tokyo down to Keushu, and with a little luck, take the ferry over to Korea and bike around there as well. This should take about three weeks.

But wait, you say, what about my Fuzzy Knights?

Well, I've built up a surplus way ahead of time, don't you worry. Fuzzy Knights will continue in my absense. However, it's only going to be on Fridays.

But, concider this a kind of bonus, because I intend to post updates and pictures of my Japan/Korea bicycle adventure (with the Knights in tow) in place of the Tuesday strip... starting this Tuesday with a fuller explanation about my trip.

To be honest, part of the reason I'm doing this is that I'm hoping some of you guys might decide to go on your own adventures too! Travelling by bike is not that hard and it's not that expensive... as the scale of do-it-yourself adventures goes, this one ranks as the most efficient in terms of time, cost, convenience and exploration.

Oh yes, and seeing as the new Fuzzy Knights strip is up, I'd like to know what you think. The opening ceremonies for the tournament are coming up next, and should last for the whole month... should be a hell of a party!

While waiting for the weather to clear up, I've set up a website for the Japan trip. Right now there is only a prelude, but you might find it interesting nonetheless. I intend to update it while I'm gone as often as possible, maybe every couple of days.

I also intend to post here as often as possible, depending on time and availability.

I would expect the bandwidth to get chewed up quickly on my website, so if you don't see anything, try again in a couple of hours.

Sounds like a fun trip mossfoot, enjoy!

You might want to mention to the folks at Kenzer that they should put something on the FK page about the "Fridays only" strips. It's sort of confusing that it's Wed afternoon and the Tues strip isn't up.

Very cool.

I couldn't agree more.

I've done several multi-day bike trips but never had a chance to do much more than 3 days at a time. It's always been a goal of mine to do a North American coast to coast bike trip, either in from Washington State to Boston or across Canada. A few years ago, I stopped at a gas station on my way up to the North Cascades and spoke to a couple who were just heading up the mountains on the first day of a trip that they hoped would take them to New York. I've often wondered about them, curious as to how it went. I should've asked them to drop me a post-card if the made it.

I've also wanted to do a trip across Nova Scotia, taking the ferry from Portland, ME and heading all the way up to Cape Breton. So I guess we sort of think along the same lines, eh?

In addition to biking, I also love hiking trips, and ever since I was young I've wanted to do some significant distance cross country trips on foot, partially inspired by planning wilderness treks in D&D. So far my best adventure was last year when I did a 72 mile hike through the Sierra Nevada in California, climaxing at the summit of Mt. Whitney (highest peak in the lower 48 states). It turns out the encumbrance rules are fairly accurate, as far as I could tell. :D

Within the next couple of years, I'm hoping to make some of those dreams reality. I'm also hoping to summit Mt. Rainier next time that I'm out in Washington.

Have a great time on your trip! Keep us posted on your progress.

I think they will do that this Friday... sorry it's not clear now... hopefully they will also link to the journal there for those interested, but if not, just keep in mind the link I have above.

Anyone else here besides Davelozzi enjoy going on adventures? I wanted to go Geocaching while on my trip, but finding an English GPS turned out to be more difficult than I thought...
