G-Cube Madness (or How I learned to Love the Swordamge)

I had some fun with a Gelatinous cube today. In a 10' wide coridor on the edge of a large room with rat swarms and a G-Cube. I'm playing an Earth Genasi Assualt Swordmage, 2nd level, with Dimension Warp.

The Warlord (our leader and only healing) got engulfed and was seriously short on HP. I was two squares away from the cube, a marked rat swarm between us.

I Dimension Swapped with the Warlord inside the cube. The it was teh rat swarm's initiative. It hit the warlord for a couple damage and I immediately teleport out to whack the rats, denying the G-Cube its meal.

I love mobility. :D

Nice story. Having played an eladrin for several levels now, I can say that short range teleport is full of awesome.

I have a similar (but different) story.

The Half-Elf in the group had taken an artificer power as his Dilettante ability; the power boosts an ally's AC while hitting/pushing an adjacent enemy.

Forced movement against anyone in a grab ends the grab.

At the time, the Barbarian was engulfed in a gelatinous cube. The Half-Elf used it on the Barbarian, and the Push effect hit the cube, freeing the Barbarian.

That same artificer power came in handy in our last encounter against a trio of gricks and a grell. The grick alpha and grell were playing tug of war with our fighter, and I used the power to get him out of one of the grabs.

I suppose it's neither here nor there... but you're speakin' Moon Language.

He is describing his experiences while acting as a "player"--a sort of writer-director for a single character--within the popular fantasy role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. Noe, these are imagination games, that take place arond a tabletop with words--not the sort of role-playing game you might know from the video consoles the kids love!

His character belongs to a fantastical race called the Genasi, a people aligned with the elements of old mysticism! This Genasi is aligned specifically with the element of earth--stone, rock, and dirt, that is! His character also has a "class", which is sort of like a job and an archetype rolled into one! This guy's class is swordmage, a sort of mystical swordsman best understood as similar to a high-fantasy Jedi (warrior-priests from the popular Star Wars films). Each character's level of ability is abstracted as a "level". This specific character--an Earth Genasi swordmage--is level two, which isn't very high (The scale goes up to 30!), but still fairly exciting, as you can see from his story!

I sure do hope this helps! Maybe you'd be interesting in trying a Dungeons & Dragons game, one day!

I must say, this post made my wife's birthday. Thank you for the present as she was reading over my shoulder. I'd give you more experience from the post, but the boards won't let me.

Wow! your explanation excited me so much that I tried out this Dungeons and Dragons game you speak of! Alas I was unable to locate the "Earth Genasi Assualt Swordmage", or the "Dimension Warp" power in my rule books!

Perhaps there is some extra supplement that contains this race/class/power?!
