Game Errata

First Post
Hiya folks,

I am just browsing the D&D 4th edition errata for 29/4/2011 (I havent looked at any PHB errata for some time) and two things puzzle me:

1. Lightning Bolt (the errata says that "The power's Target entry was revised and its Effect entry and secondary attacks were removed. The power now deals half damage on a miss".). I have no problem removing the secondary attacks section, nor applying half damage on a miss but I'm wondering about how exactly the Target entry was 'revised' since no other details are provided about the change. Can anyone tell me what the revision was or, failing that, direct me to where I can get the revised text for Lightning Bolt.

2. A number of pieces of errata re Magical Items refer to "the new magic item rules". I have no idea what these new rules are unfortunately so, again, could someone please explain what the changes are or, better still, direct me to a place where I can read about the changes.

Cheers,

Bruns. :)

Thanks.

However, I'm actually looking at the latest (29/4) official errata for the PHB from WOTC as I'm typing and that version of the errata doesnt give any more info than what I've typed above re the Lightning Bolt spell or the 'new' rules for Magic Items. I was hoping to perhaps find older archived rules updates, but I cant find locate them.

Re: Lightning Bolt, the spell used to have a primary target, then two secondary targets. Now it has been revised (in Heroes of the Fallen Lands) to have Targets: one, two, or three creatures.

That was from 8/4/2010 updates actually, as all the updates are included in the file. Lightning bolt now targets "one, two, or three creatures" . It's one of the powers they didn't provide a new rewrite including the whole power, just the overview of what changed.

Magic item rarity..common/uncommon/rare are categories of magic items now. forgot now where those rules were introduced..

Thanks for the clarifications re Lightning Bolt folks. I also found a some info re Magic Item Rarity (from essentials - which I dont have) but I think I'll stick with the RAW from the PHB re those.

Cheers,

Unfortunately, the changed magic item rules are pretty much unimplemented and there are only a handful of rare magic items.

It's a great system, but they NEED to qualify what items are common, uncommon and rare and provide a buttload more cool rare items if it's going to work.
