Gamer commisions a 'tavern' for his gaming building.

I crit!
One of the hosts of 'Know Direction', a Pathfinder/Paizo podcast, is building a 'tavern' for his gaming room. A whole building fashioned after a medieval tavern to play games in. I want one. I wish he'd post pictures.

One of his concerns is that he can't hide or disguise the power panel. My suggestion would be to make it a 'Barrier Peaks' relic by designing the area around it so it looks like a hatch to some artifact.

I was going to make a comment here making fun of the guy... and then I remembered that, were I to ever win the lottery, I'd be moving into a boat named "Serenity". And my plan was to modify the main galley to resemble that of the Firefly class cruiser...

...after remembering that, I deleted my comment. :)

I happen to be the guy in question, and I'll be happy to post pictures once the building is done, both here and on the Know Direction site.

It won't be a massive 'Disney Park' like creation, but I hope to do what I can to make it look good. Right now pictures wont do the project any favors because it looks just like a 10 ft. x 16 ft. portable building until I'm finished with it.

The portable game room was the primary objective, and the tavern theme just sort of grew out from that. I mean, I had to decorate it some how, so why not a tavern?

I'm having a heck of a time tracking down barrels in my area though. :) Right now I'm going to improvise and glue together half barrel planters until I can find some real ones.

Edit: The Barrier Peaks idea is a fun idea and I'll definitely look into that as an option.

Normally i just lurk, but if you're looking for barrels and have the money, Jack Daniels sells their used ones, and furniture made from them, in their online store here:

When I was still working in the theatre industry we bought a few for stock props, they're not cheap when you factor in shipping, but they are very authentic and durable.

Edit: I've never used them, but for smaller barrels you might also want to try here:

If you don't need them to actually hold water, you could always try making them. They're not that hard with a few basic hand tools.

When I lived in California and played taiko drums, we'd build our drums from old wine casks. You might want to reach out to some CA wineries to see how much one might cost. (Probably too much $$ to ship to KY; looks like Smackfish's suggestion of Jack Daniels would be much closer to home.)

Barrels are fairly expensive unfortunately...there just aren't enough cooper's around these days I guess. *shrug*

You can also see if there are any Mennonites or Amish in your area as I know I've bought some amazing hand-crafted furniture from them for very reasonable prices around where I live. They might be able to make a cosmetic barrel pretty easily and cheaper.
