Isn't this the gamer stereotype:
  • Have either uncombed hair hidden under a cap or beret, long hair in a ponytail, or a shaved head.
  • Often wear glasses.
  • Have either freckles, acne, or both.
  • Pale skin leaves them with rosy cheeks or sunburns from checking the mail.
  • Wear either anime shirts, geek humor shirts (C: Dos Run), or a shirt that is just as old as they are.
  • Wear either blue jeans, camoflauge pants, or khaki shorts that leave little to the imagination.
  • Wear either tennis shoes, open toe sandals, or sandals with socks.
  • Speech has a nasal tone to it.
  • Typically either overweight or underweight, rarely in between.
  • Every gamer knows lines from the following movies: Monty Python & the Holy Grail, Spaceballs, and Star Wars.
  • Every gamer knows at least one Star Trek line, but most likely it is more.
  • Every gamer knows at least one Douglas Adams reference.
  • Typically some gamers like one or more of the following artists: Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield, Nobuo Uematsu, They Might Be Giants, and/or John Zorn.
  • Only a small amount of gamers own a car that efficiently operates.
This is just based on information from my local gaming community.
And this is just for fun anyways.

Cheers!

Except for the shirt thing and the hair thing (and the fact that I'm not a fan of Star Trek and sci-fi in general outside of Star Wars), I'm so stereotypically a gamer...

A story from my convention staff days:

A middle-aged woman who arrived at the registration desk looking for her son. She had forgotten to tell him something before he left for the con - she said it was important but not an emergency. Unfortunately that part of the hotel had no type of PA system, and he had not pre-registerred, so we could not look up what game he was in. We told her that we would have to go room-to-room to try to find him. She replied "He should be easy to spot, let me describe him. He's about 5'10", a little heavy-set, wears glasses, has a beard and mustache, has a slight receeding hairline, is wearing sneakers, jeans and a gaming t-shirt, and has a backpack full of gaming books." We had to tactfully explain to her that that description fit almost half of those present.

I only fit 7 of those, and the acne/no car thing will (hopefully) fade with age...

I feel like a sham as a geek...
